"Gold and Smoke"
This is a mixed medium I mainly do, which with alcohol ink and heat transfer foil. Alcohol ink is a very difficult medium to work with as it dries within seconds. You add rubbing alcohol to move the alcohol ink around the yupo paper to create an abstract painting. I had a general idea of combining black ink with gold heat transfer foil. I didn't think it would turn out this great as my alcohol ink paintings never turn out like this. This is quite large and from an expensive yupo roll which many alcohol inks artists don't use as they work on very small 9"x12" yupo paper. Yupo is polypropylene film(Plastic paper) which is waterproof-- because any other paper would absorb the ink immediately. I usually put the heat transfer foil on organically (straight onto the ink) organically and pull it off--not knowing what is going to be revealed. But to get those linear lines I had to use glue for the first time. I didn't know what I was doing at all. "Contrast" is a big theme in many of my works-- which is why I like putting light-reflecting materials on liquid ink. It's a unique style used to create cards and T-shirts from a machine but I figured out how to make a painting with this unique mixed-medium. It was a hit on Instagram and is currently my most popular work by 1,000 artists worldwide. I just it made last week and didn't think what would people think. I was pleasantly surprised! I never had so much fun making an art piece. Especially when alcohol ink is such an unpredictable unknown medium that is very difficult to work with.
