Under a Spreading Chestnut
We recently stayed at a lovely country chateau near Fontainebleu, France where the grounds were ripe with many tall, flowering chestnut trees. The late afternoon sunlight set the new green leaves ablaze with light and it was magical to walk beneath them. I chose to do a vignette-like "portrait" study of a single branch and its flower. Since I was traveling light, this painting is on belgian linen glued to Gatorboard.
