Morning Light on the North Fork

This is one of my favorite locations to visit and paint along the Coeur d'Alene River. In the fall, it's quiet with few visitors, just the occasional fly fisher. On clear, crisp days like this one, morning light gently shifts the shadows across the calm water. I love sitting here, alone, watching the nearly invisible current of the water, the movement of the fish, and the effects of the changing light. I work to bring my relationship with a place into the painting and infuse some sense of my experience.
