We had a ledge on our front porch at our last home where we placed pumpkins in the fall. One year, squirrels decided to make them a fast food meal! This little guy was particularly engaging and his antics increased as he chewed into the pumpkins. Eventually, he made a hole big enough to where he was able to climb into the pumpkin with only his tail sticking out! I used both a realistic and an impressionistic approach to this painting. The squirrel and pumpkins are more tightly rendered and the background more implied with subtle brushwork. I did use a subtle, softer approach, though, to the squirrel's tail. It was so fluffy!
