Pelican Refuge

Pelican Refuge, Landscape
Pelican Refuge
“Pelican Refuge”, is inspired by my recent trip to Carmel and the mesmerizing scenery. Sourced from my plein air study, I was captivated by the dramatic cliffs cascading down to the Pacific Ocean below, adorned with a delicate ribbon of sea foam. Pelicans soared in formation, whales danced in the distance.
Spending hours perched on the cliffside with my easel, I was entranced by the interesting and extreme perspective and shapes of the cliffs from a pelican’s view point. The unique vertical composition of the scene, the ribbon of sea foam and the splashes of orange lichen adorning the rocks like magical fairy dust, beckoned me to translate the essence of this enchanting location onto canvas.
