The Scientist

Every week, and often multiple times a week, my scientist colleague leads a group of university students and professors up a sacred mountain at night in the heart of downtown Kyoto city for nature observation. He guides our attention to experience various living treasures, including many species of plants & fungi, a variety of arthropods including lightning bugs when they are in season and millipedes that fluoresce gorgeous aquas under UV light; some reptiles, amphibians and birds; and the nocturnal super stars, giant Japanese flying squirrels and wild boars.
