Met Roberto on my travels through Rome, my friend Jimena & I were walking down the street after stopping at a cafe when this impeccably dressed man walked by giving each of us a huge bright shinning smile. My draw dropped, he was glowing. I had to paint him, so immediately stopped & said hello, explained that I was a portrait artist & asked if could I paint him. He obliged straight away & looked for good lighting & backdrop. I was impressed. We exchanged cards & as I saw his card I realised he was an artist too, with two galleries here in Rome! I thanked him very much for allowing me to take his photo & to paint him & off we went. A couple of minutes later Jimena & I came across one of his galleries! There was a wonderful portrait of him in the window sitting amongst his gorgeous gestural horse drawings. I was so happy afterwards to have come across a beaming person, let alone another artist in a magical place such as Rome! It was thrilling!
One of the major reasons I have always wanted to go travelling was to capture people from all around the world & in different cultures. I love painting other artists no matter what the medium whether it be cooking, music, painter, anything! Creativity is such a connecting thing.
Thank you Roberto for bringing your light into the world, keep creating!
