Gilles the artist

This is an oil painting on canvas. I studied oil painting of the nude with the artist Gilles Marrey at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris for a year (2013-2014). At the end of the year, just before leaving France to come back home to Canada, I asked him : "What is there after the beaux-arts? What does one do?". He replied: "Vole de tes propres ailes" (fly with your own wings). I painted this portrait of him based on photographs I took of him on my last day at the beaux-arts.
