Midnight sky

This is an oil painting on canvas. It is a second portrait of my youngest daughter Catherine. She was a dancer for 14 years. She is now a motorcycle pilot and races as an amateur. Last year in 2023, she was the first woman (in fact, the only woman racing in the 600cc amateur category) to win a race at the Superseries in Ontario (CA) since its foundation in the 1980's, all categories included. She placed third overall for that racing season and received the Rookie of the year award. With this portrait, I aimed to capture her self-assurance and audacity. Her long dark hair is now blond. She can be easily recognized by the other racers on the racing track with her long blond braid flipping in the wind. The title refers to the song by Miley Cyrus which inspired me with the tone and perhaps some of Catherine's spirit.
