We were moored for the night at Cuttyhunk. As the sun set, it created a beautiful blend of warm and cool reflections in the sky and on the water. The colors were in perfect harmony, and the luminance of the reflections seemed to cascade from the sky onto the water. As I built up several layers of oil, I wanted the viewer to be drawn into its atmosphere and immersed in its beauty.
