Roadside Poppies
What a great time at the PACE24 Convention! I am so excited about my trip home from a week of plein air painting, workshops and demos at Cherokee, NC in the Blue Ridge Mountains to learn from those who are at the forefront of the art age during our time.

On the way home I saw a wonderful field of poppies and wildflowers on the roadside. Didn’t matter how tired I was, those poppies were getting painted!

Joe was gracious enough to sit in the truck for a couple of hours while I basically got my color study started. It was work in progress but now (almost three months later)I’m sharing the finished painting! So here it is! Predominantly painted en plein air, however, finished in the studio because the flowers didn't last long enough for me to finish on location. Several reference photos and memory of that vivid scene were used to paint this rendering!
