Morning Break in Puerto Rico
I got up at 5 in the morning to go for a run on the beach in Puerto Rico and had to run back to my hotel room and get my gear to catch this. I only got about halfway through before the light changed and the wind picked up so I finished the rest at home. There was a hurricane offshore earlier in the week so the waves were extremely choppy and moving in all different directions. There was a lot of sediment in the water which gave it a variety of colors. The morning sun was shining into the waves giving them golden/turquoise color.
I use a limited pallet of primarily Gamblin Oil paints on a double oil primed linen canvas on a sealed birch 3mm panel. I build my own panels using acid-free archival glue.
